McWilliam Windsocks have supplied windsocks, windsock swivel frames, and pivoting windsock masts for the Sadara Project in Saudi Arabia.
Sadara is currently constructing in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest integrated chemical complex ever built in a single phase, with 26 state-of-the-art manufacturing units, over 3 million tons of capacity per annum and an investment of about US$20 billion. Sadara will support Saudi Arabia’s industrial and social diversification by extending key value chains downstream and generating thousands of employment opportunities, both through the complex and through the adjoining PlasChem Park.
This is McWilliam Windsocks’ latest partnership with Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest company. For this order we worked in conjunction with Fluor Arabia; who approached us with a requirement for thirteen windsocks, frames and masts.
Since its first project in 1947, Fluor has maintained a continuous presence in the Middle East. Fluor has executed projects in Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, amongst others. Fluor’s history of mega-project success in the Middle East provides Clients with confidence of Fluor’s engineering, procurement, and construction execution capabilities in the region. Currently, Fluor maintains 4 offices in the Middle East, and the regional headquarters is located in Abu Dhabi.
Our high visibility orange windsocks are renowned for their longevity in harsh climates similar to that of Saudi Arabia. We produced 8ft lace on polyester windsocks to maximize visibility for safety requirements while keeping costs low. We constructed swivel units and supporting frame from 316L stainless steel to support the windsocks atop their masts. The additional framework allows the windsocks to better indicate the immediate wind direction as the windsock is supported for 3/8ths of it’s length. The final part of the puzzle, the masts, are our standard six meter telescopic windsock masts. These masts are proven in their longevity and simplicity. Their integral pivot and lock system allows for safe and easy maintenance and replacement of windsocks. A job which would normally require several men becomes a single man job.
Fluor and Aramco were extremely satisfied throughout design, manufacture and on final delivery of goods to the Sadara site.
